Good design is invisible. Even though truth, like beauty, comes from within, it still needs some sort of outward expression. This is most evident in our loudspeakers, where the results of our years of labor in design and development are clad in the finest wood available.

At Dynaudio, we know there are few materials on earth which can compare to the beauty of natural wood. That's why we have housed all the speakers of the Contour Series in superbly finished hand-crafted wooden cabinets that are available in a wide range of veneers to suit virtually any individual taste. Of course, the final choice of finish is up to you, but with beech, bird's eye maple, black ash, cherry, rosewood, walnut and both black and white lacquers on offer, we suspect that your decision might take some time.

Therefore we're building our enclosures the way our loudspeakers would want them to be built, if you were to ask them. And that's exactly what our design department is trying to achieve. (Said design department goes by the name of Frederick Rickmann. His artistic reputation has traveled far beyond the city limits of Skanderborg.)

The cabinets of our famous Contour Series utilize a thick multi-layered, multi-division MDF sandwich enclosure - essentially a box within a box. They are internally cross-braced at physical locations which would otherwise create cabinet colorations.

To ensure structural rigidity and aid in the reduction of resonances, all corners and cross braces utilize precision routered groove techniques in the assembly, and are further supported by additional trim bracing.

By painstakingly scrutinizing the various effects of air pressures and velocities, our engineers have been able to almost totally eliminate the energy that the drivers would normally transfer to the enclosure, thus eliminating any cabinet related colorations. Additionally, the side panels are internally damped with a layer of a proprietary bitumen based compound which further dampens resonance at problematic frequency nodes. The woofers are mounted overlapping the side walls of the cabinet, essentially increasing the rigidity of the baffle without inducing any colorations.

Eyes can hear, too. The laws of form and design are just as universal and unchanging as the laws of acoustics. We think true beauty doesn't have to follow the fads of fashion. Because true beauty is never flashy and aggressive. It's simple and unpretentious.
