coil soldering

As you must have noticed, we're taking a bit more care of our products than most manufacturer of durable consumer goods. Which is why our loudspeakers will actually be durable.

Mild climactic conditions, unlike those found in Skanderborg, require neither durable cars nor durable loudspeakers. One of the main reasons why we Danes invest so much in quality.

Drivers which you could leave outdoors for a while. If you had to. Voice coils which, in theory, can withstand a lightning strike (We must admit we haven't tried it yet. Finding a lightning willing to cooperate is surprisingly difficult). Speakers which, even after years of use and abuse, will not wander from the path of righteousness and truth. Not one iota.

coil processingBuilt to last.
Dynaudio tweeters feature our unique Magnaflux cooling system in which the heat produced by the voice coil is dissipated to the magnet system through a magnetic-fluid cooling liquid. Our D-28 tweeter has become a legend for its excellent performance - and its more than 17 years in continuous production.

Our coils are processed in such a way that the coil expands and contracts until the wires have reformed into a solid mass of compact wire. Thus an extremely durable and stable coil is made; one not subject to warping and other problems commonly associated with loudspeaker voice coils. The glued and thermally bonded high-grade SBR surround ensures our woofers excellent power control and almost eternal durability.

But durability isn't just built into our drivers. The thickness of the veneer used in our cabinets is about twice that found in conventional speakers. Our specialists use only a nontoxic glue that was developed in-house and consists purely of natural substances. The dampening materials utilized in the Contour Series do not contain any hazardous particles. In fact, all Dynaudio loudspeaker cabinets are treated with a unique internal coating to ensure that they deliver nothing but true breathtaking music, for years and years to come.

Air Studios LondonBetter to be safe and working, than sorry and broken.
The most severe test for a loudspeaker is professional use in the studio. What isn't built right from the ground up will often break down after only a few days. For that reason, normal studio monitors tend to be more robust than good sounding. Yet there are a serious number of studios around the world which insist on using Dynaudio loudspeakers.

On one hand, this is due to the fact that our drivers will withstand even the most extreme loudness demands, for hours on end, without losing their composure. Plus, it's not easy to find a speaker that the sensitive ear of the studio engineer will withstand.

DreamSoundStudioThe Air Studios in London will attest to this, as will the Sony Classics studios in Tokyo and New York and their DVD and SACD authoring facilities. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to listen to a recent high quality recording that wasn't monitored on DynaudioAcoustics speakers during the recording or post production process.

DynaudioAcoustics speakers are clearly the definitive choice of recording artists and engineers when only the absolute best will do. They tell no lies and hide no faults, and only tell the truth - yet, in an agreeable manner. If it's there, you'll know it!

So they tell us
Testimony to the durability aspect of Dynaudio ownership are the many nice letters we get from committed Dynaudio fans.

From a high end dealer, for example, who had a water mains break in his studio. Those speakers from Skanderborg remained unaffected. Whereas quite a lot of other stuff was damaged beyond repair. But that may have been luck.

Just like the experience of the discotheque owner in Holland, whose defective amplifier heated up the voice coils of our bass drivers so much they melted through the membrane. The coils themselves remained unimpressed.
