The basic principles of acoustic truth follow laws which are as simple as they are immutable. We would like to take a few minutes of your time to give some original Danish advice on how to keep your system producing its own authentic fidelity:

Experience
Making the right decision in a listening room crammed full with technical stuff is not easy. For acoustic reasons (everything resonates or reflects the soundwaves). For reasons to do with the physiology of hearing (the ear latches onto quantitative differences in sound, with less initial emphasis on quality). And for psychological reasons (someone keeps talking to you). Our Authorized Dynaudio Dealers are prepared to help you overcome these difficulties. When choosing audio equipment of any kind, a knowledgeable and experienced dealer can be of great assistance.

Loudspeakers First
In selecting components, start with the loudspeakers (where else) and choose the rest of your system accordingly. It's the only way to discover the electronics' true qualities.

Amplifier
Even we Danes can't give any generalized recommendations as to which amplifiers you should use. Ask a knowledgeable and experienced dealer.

Impedance
Hardly any amplifier designer can anticipate the wild impedance variations many conventional loudspeakers have. Thanks to their linearity, our speakers are very unproblematic in this regard, presenting a very easy load.

Resonance
A loudspeaker situated where the surface on which it stands can resonate in sympathy, can make a whole apartment block jump in time to the music. Either spikes or resistive dampers will help in such a situation. Locate them at the outside of the loudspeaker base plate and they will de-couple the true enthusiast from his potentially danophobe neighbor.

Foundation
Small loudspeakers often demand large investments: you may need stands or wall mount brackets. A sturdy, sand fillable, well damped 24" - 26" tall speaker stand will provide a firm foundation to your music. If you need to anchor the speaker onto a wall, we now offer a special wall mount bracket for the application. Please contact your dealer for more info and recommendations.

Distance
Eyes may wander. Ears don't. For that reason, your distance from the loudspeakers normally should be a little bigger than the distance between the speakers.

Phasing
Loudspeakers which are connected out of phase have no choice but to lie. Simple solution: disconnect your speaker cables from your amp, hold the positive end of a battery to the positive (red) connector on your box and watch the cone movement. The bass driver should move forward a little. If it doesn't, reverse your leads. If it does, read on. Don't forget to repeat the process on the other box. If you don't know what we're talking about, let your dealer show you.

Cables
Cables are sensitive. There's a reason why they leave the factory in an insulating sheath. If you make up your own leads, don't touch the bare wire ends with your hands, or you'll cause corrosion.

Breathe
Loudspeakers need room to breathe. Stand speakers should not be placed in room corners they should generally have a couple of feet distance to the back and three feet to the side wall. A poorly positioned loud speaker will not perform accurately in any system.

Damping
A good listening room must have some damping. Unfortunately, it's impossible to give generalized advice here (statements to the contrary are a lie). Your true dealer should be able to help you. In extreme cases, it may be worthwhile to consult an acoustics engineer.

Warm Up
Before a hard workout, it helps to stretch and warm up first. The same can be said about good speakers. A couple of days to a week of normal usage with brand new loudspeakers helps them to stretch out; thereafter, a few minutes of warm up time is all that is required to achieve a more optimized performance before seriously listening.
