Dynaudio at HE 2007 in New York

Dynaudio recently exhibited at the 2007 Home Entertainment Show in New York, where the Confidence C1 model was highlighted in an active display with Simaudio Electronics and Cardas cables in a system that was widely regarded as one of the best heard at the show, and early show reports support this statement:

According to Stereophile’s Stephen Mejias: “An early candidate for Best in Show honors, the Dynaudio/Simaudio room pulsed with warm, smooth, detailed sound. The impressive Dynaudio Confidence C1 loudspeakers partnered beautifully with Simaudio's W-7M amplification. The speakers, in gorgeous piano black finish ($7000/pair), fairly vanished without a trace, while those unswerving monoblocks poured 1000W (into 4ohms) of power into the space around us.”

Stereophile’s Mejias also reported on the new MC 15 multimedia loudspeakers in his HE2007 coverage:

“Also in the Dynaudio room, Mike Manousselis was jazzed like Attention Screen over his small and wily desktop computer speakers, the sharp MC15s ($1299/pair). Playing modest MP3s from Mike's new laptop, the MC15s had absolutely no right to sound as good as they did. Playing MP3?! Say what? Oh, no he d'in't! Oh, yes. He did. Intensely fun nearfield listening.”

Stereophile/Ultimate AV’s Fred Manteghian added: “There were a lot of great sounding systems at the show, there always are, but some rooms just hit you right. For me, it was the Dynaudio / Simaudio room. In this small room, Simaudio Moon W7M monoblocks drove the small Dynaudio Confidence C1. A seriously priced system, no doubt, but the sound was commensurate. From the overplayed "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole that greeted me when I entered, to Sarah McLachlan's "Eyes of an Angel," to a Bruce Coburn / Lucinda Williams piece, the system sounded relaxed and totally involving. It had an uncanny ability to paint unique perspectives for each recording. I could have stayed even longer, but the show was calling. With a new found respect for Simaudio electronics and an even stronger desire to get a Dynaudio Confidence system in for review, I begrudgingly walked away.”

Larry Greenhill of Stereophile wrote:That's an impressive soundstage for a two-way monitor, I thought looking at the diminutive Confidence C1 loudspeaker, but hearing a wide, deep soundstage. Dynaudio's 25 lb pound, two-way features a 7" woofer and the Danish company's acclaimed Esotar2, 28mm, soft-dome tweeter. The drivers are mounted on a baffle that is said to be decoupled from the cabinet. Dynamic range was superb driven by Simaudio Moon W-7M monoblocks, thought JA(John Atkinson), who thought that this system's reproduction of Stereophile's new Attention Screen CD was one of the best he heard at the Show.”

Chip Stern’s show report from 6 Moons featured the following: “However, for me amplifier-loudspeaker nirvana manifested itself most palpably in the Earthly dimension in the Simaudio/Dynaudio/Cardas room, which to these ears was far and away the best-sounding room in the show. I reviewed the diminutive and startlingly musical Dynaudio Confidence C1 for Positive Feedback OnLine some months back, at which time I opined that if it wasn't the best sounding loudspeaker I had ever heard, it was surely the best-sounding mini-monitor. Had I lost my mind? I needed another listen. Well, it would be hard to imagine a better sounding speaker than those I heard in this room, pulling off a remarkable variation on that old schoolyard game of where's the subwoofer? Well, there wasn't any but I didn't meet anyone over the course of the show who felt shortchanged by the astonishing bass, midrange layering, clarity and linearity of these speakers. And soundstaging? Forget about the speakers disappearing. The whole damn room disappeared! …The resolution, clarity and effortless dynamic range of this system was breathtaking - as was the power-handling capacity of the C1s, which just ate up all of that current without breaking a sweat. It's hard to imagine a better-sounding, no-compromise system… It ain't the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog - and the Confidence C1 can take on all comers. Woof.”

BBC Radio & Music selects Dynaudio as reference loudspeaker

After a comprehensive selection procedure, the BBC Radio & Music has chosen Dynaudio as its new internal Monitor reference loudspeaker: Models from Dynaudio Acoustics' sensational AIR and BM ranges are the future "recommended standard monitors" in the BBC studios.

Nordisk Film StudioMartin O'Donnell, Broadcast Sales Manager at BBC Radio & Music HHB Communication Ltd. says: "As BBC Radio & Music moved to replace their existing monitors, we took a close look at the acoustic requirements and technical specifications of the BBC. After thorough inspection of that data it was clear to us that Dynaudio Acoustics was tailor-made to meet the tough requirements". In particular the future-proof digital, multi-channel architecture and perfect homogenous response in many different environments were high on the BBC's priority list.

The selection procedure was extremely comprehensive and was carried out under the EU procurement guidelines, where interested companies were invited to put 3 different monitor sizes on tender. Every single monitor and company was evaluated separately, and 10 different brands were selected for the final evaluation, where several different usability tests were conducted.

Dynaudio CEO Wilfried EhrenholzThe speakers had to pass through technical evaluations and pass extensive listening tests under "blind" conditions, using an acoustically transparent curtain, in order to guarantee objective and neutral judging. Besides these tests, factory inspections were conducted to examine manufacturing conditions and production consistency. By the end of these far-reaching marathon tests Dynaudio was selected.

”We’re thrilled to have found a partner in the BCC which shares our passion for music and our high targets for true and authentic sound reproduction” says Wilfried Ehrenholz, CEO, and speaking on behalf, of Dynaudio.

The British Broadcasting Corporation more commonly known by its acronym, the BBC, is renowned throughout the world for its many superb TV and music productions. Only very few broadcasting companies have such a formidable reputation; its productions reaching far beyond the borders of the United Kingdom. Being very quality-conscious, the BBC has traditionally developed its own Reference Monitor loudspeakers, as none of the commercially available systems at the time could fulfil the BBC's own self-imposed highly exacting and demanding requirements. Probably most demanding is BBC Radio & Music: With the famous registrations from BBC Television Classical Music, 10 national radio BBC Radio stations, 5 high-quality BBC Digital Services and numerous music recording and production studios, stringent requirements are essential.

CyberSound StudiosDynaudio has developed loudspeakers for professional studio applications under the Dynaudio Acoustics brand name for years. In particular the innovative AIR active monitors are used throughout the world's best studios for music and film production, whereas the superb Dynaudio HiFi and Home theater range of speakers allow for the best possible sound at home.
